Teaching
When I was a visiting instructor at Georgia State University, I taught a 4/4 of Introduction to Ethics. I'd designed and taught the course during my M.A., but really appreciated the chance to revisit it and make changes in response to student feedback. I did a flipped classroom, where I would lecture for a portion of the class, then break students into small groups to discuss prepared questions, before sharing their answers and talking through the questions as a whole class. I found this allowed me to guide students through the structure of the readings, while also encouraging them to exercise reading comprehension and their own analytic skills. I taught from handouts that included my lecture notes and the discussion questions, but did not include answers to the discussion questions. This helped incentivize students to attend class, take notes, and engage regularly.
